About the PHTLS Class
Guardian Elite Medical Services offers Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) training for EMS and other prehospital healthcare professionals seeking to strengthen their approach to the assessment and management of trauma patients.
PHTLS focuses on the principles of effective prehospital trauma care, including rapid patient assessment, recognition of life-threatening injuries, prioritization of treatment, and appropriate transport decisions. Rather than focusing only on individual skills or procedures, the course emphasizes critical thinking and the development of a systematic approach that can be applied to a wide range of traumatic emergencies.
Through classroom instruction, case-based discussions, practical skills, and trauma scenarios, students apply these concepts to realistic patient presentations and practice making treatment decisions in a prehospital environment.
PHTLS is appropriate for EMTs, Advanced EMTs, Paramedics, Critical Care Paramedics, nurses involved in transport or prehospital medicine, firefighters, and other qualified prehospital healthcare professionals.

PHTLS Initial-

The PHTLS Initial course is intended for providers completing PHTLS for the first time or for those who require completion of the full initial course.
Students will participate in classroom education, practical skills, patient assessment exercises, and trauma-based scenarios throughout the two-day program.
Textbook: Students are responsible for purchasing the required PHTLS textbook unless they select the optional Upgrade Package, which includes their own textbook.
PHTLS Renewal-
Dates: October 15, 2026
Time: 0900 – 1900
Course Length: 1 day
Tuition: $200.00
The PHTLS Refresher Course provides returning PHTLS providers with an opportunity to review and reinforce the principles of prehospital trauma assessment and management.
This accelerated course focuses on maintaining proficiency in trauma assessment, clinical decision-making, and the management of time-sensitive traumatic injuries.
Students registering for the refresher course should meet applicable eligibility requirements for the PHTLS refresher/renewal course.
Textbook: Students are responsible for purchasing the required PHTLS textbook unless they select the optional Upgrade Package, which includes their own textbook.

Attire and Hands-On Training
PHTLS is more than a lecture-based course.
Students should be prepared to participate in practical exercises and trauma scenarios designed to reinforce the concepts discussed during the course. Students may be required to demonstrate patient assessment, trauma management, and other practical skills as part of successful course completion.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for practical training and simulated patient-care activities.
Required PHTLS Textbook
The required PHTLS textbook is not included in the standard course tuition.
Students enrolling in either the Initial or Refresher Course are responsible for obtaining the required textbook before class.
Students who prefer to have Guardian Elite Medical Services provide their textbook may select the optional Upgrade Package during registration. The Upgrade Package includes a personal copy of the required course textbook.
Students selecting standard registration should ensure they obtain the correct edition of the required textbook with sufficient time to prepare before the course.
