It depends on the nature of the conviction. The National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) may deny certification for certain criminal convictions, especially felonies or crimes involving violence, abuse, theft, or weapons. However, each case is reviewed individually, considering factors like the severity of the crime, time elapsed, and rehabilitation efforts. Some states may have additional restrictions. If you have a conviction, you should check with both NREMT and your state EMS authority to determine eligibility.
For more information review the NREMT Criminal Conviction policy or reach out to your local EMS Authority. For EMTs in Clark County, NV, call the Southern Nevada Health District at 702-759-1050. For EMTs outside of Clark County, call the State of Nevada EMS Office at 775-687-7590.
